Forbes Fellowship

J. Kenneth Forbes Fellowship

After a lifetime of vision and dedication the J. Kenneth Forbes Fellowship was created in 1998 to honor one of Indiana's leading churchman, The Reverend Doctor J. Kenneth Forbes. A member of the South Indiana Conference. Dr. Forbes served effectively as the Assistant to the Bishop over a period of 17 years, encompassing the leadership of four different bishops.

During that time and following in his retirement, Ken Forbes played a significant role in leading individuals to Franklin United Methodist Community, both as a resident and as a financial contributor. His own personal desire to remember this special ministry in his estate plan led him to tell the story and request others include Franklin United Methodist Community in their estate and gift plans.

In recognition of his outstanding leadership, the Board of Directors of Franklin United Methodist Community established the J. Kenneth Forbes Fellowship for persons making a planned gift to the Community.

Why a Fellowship?

All donors are special! Every dollar we receive is greatly appreciated and used to further our ministry. Since our opening in 1957, many have joined together forming a fellowship of friends that has made much possible. Now is the time to recognize and encourage continued support, through the J. Kenneth Forbes Fellowship. Let those who come after us find us faithful!

There are times when persons are unable or hesitant to make an immediate gift of cash or securities. However, these committed persons want to include Franklin United Methodist Community in the sharing of their assets once they no longer need them. Hence, a planned gift, such as a bequest, is appropriate and works well in their plans.

Traditionally, while active, involved, and living, these persons seldom receive any recognition for the contribution they are making to the future of the Community. The J. Kenneth Forbes Fellowship is our way to say "thank you" now. It also allows these persons to serve as an example to other friends who might contemplate a similar kind of gift arrangement.

A Caring Commitment

We welcome to the J. Kenneth Forbes Fellowship all persons who have made plans to provide a financial gift to Franklin United Methodist Community through their will, trust, insurance policy, charitable gift annuity, or other planned gift vehicle.
