Gifts Through Your Will

The provisions in your will for making a gift to the Franklin United Methodist Community can be done in several ways.

To help you and your attorney, we have prepared some suggestions for your consideration.

Undesignated Bequest - this type of bequest allows the funds to be used wherever needed most at the time they are received. Because needs change and the Community must respond, an undesignated bequest provides us the greatest flexibility to respond where contributions are needed when the bequest is received. Oftentimes, these areas were unknown to the donors five, ten or even twenty years ago, when their will was drafted. The following information would apply:

"I give and bequeath the sum of ($) or percentage of my estate to The Franklin United Methodist Home, Inc., DBA Franklin United Methodist Community
(Fed. ID. #35-0988712) to be used for its exempt purposes."

Designated or Restricted Bequest - allows the donor to choose or restrict how their bequest will be used, once the Community receives it. The following information would apply:

"I give and bequeath the sum of ($) or percentage of my estate to The Franklin United Methodist Home, Inc., DBA Franklin United Methodist Community
(Fed. ID #35-0988712) to be used for the Benevolent Care Endowment Fund."

Other areas that need continual financial support are the Health Center, Special Care Unit and Transportation Fund.

Donors including the Franklin United Methodist Community in their estate plans are encouraged to consider specifying a percentage of their estate rather than a specific dollar amount, since we seldom know what the actual value of our estate may reach. This bequest option would be a Residuary Bequest, whereby the Community receives all or a part of the donor's estate after all other obligations have been satisfied.
